New Heaven “Army Dreamers” Cover Available Now!

Hey everyone: Shortly before New Heaven went on indefinite hiatus, we recorded a cover of Kate Bush’s “Army Dreamers.” The cover is part of a compilation called “Running Up That Hill.” Organized by CJ Boyd, “Running Up That Hill” is a benefit for reproductive rights, the proceeds of which will go to various reproductive rights orgnanizations and pro-choice advocacy groups.

The compilation, which in addition to New Heaven features artists such as Karl Blau and Helena Espvall, has now been released, and can be listened to and purchased at the following link: . Information about where the proceeds are going is also available at the link.

I would like also to take a moment to thank my bandmates for their fine work on the track: Jeff Russ for his magnificent production, arrangement and cello work, and Shaina Kapeluck for her excellent vocal performance.

I would also like to thank CJ Boyd for asking us to be involved in this project. It has been a pleasure.

There is more New Heaven related news coming down the pike, including some solo compositions by yours truly, some soundtrack work by Jeff and myself, and some recordings and other projects by Shaina. But there will be more on that as it develops.

Thanks for listening,

New Heaven Going on Indefinite Hiatus

Hello, everyone.

For several reasons, we have decided to put The New Heaven & The New Earth on indefinite hiatus. We may pick up again where we left off at some point, but at least for the time being we will be focusing our energy on other projects.

More on that in a moment. First, a few statements of appreciation are in order.

I started this band with Jeffrey Russ back in 2009, and without his tireless efforts and prodigious talents, New Heaven would not have been possible.

Jeff and I would also like to thank the following:

Everyone who performed in the live band: Shaina Kapeluck and Max McKenna, as well as Darian Scatton, Vincent Fournier Boisvert, Mathieu Gaudreault, Ember Schrag, Dino Lionetti and Sam Tremble.

Everyone who performed on our recordings. In addition to many of those mentioned above: Dan Angel, Joe Idell, Julius Masri, Joseph Pinto, and Gabrielle Smith.

Edible Onion records for putting out “All Saints’ Day” and the Marburg Collective for putting out “Ricorso.”

Everyone who booked performances for us on the road and at home. There are far too many to name here, but a special thanks goes out to Paperhaus and Alex Tebleff, Shelby Turner, Steve and Leah at The Highwire Gallery, Jo Letke, Donna Blicharz and, once again, The Marburg Collective.

And, of course, everyone who bought copies of our records, listened to our music, or helped us with places to stay on the road.

For those who don’t already know, “All Saints’ Day” and “Ricorso” are still available to stream on our bandcamp and this webpage. The “All Saints’ Day” vinyl can also be purchased through the Edible Onion website.

As for our upcoming plans,

Jeff and I will be working together on scores for film, theater and other media.

I am planning a song-based project that may bear some similarity to New Heaven, and will also be composing pieces for other ensembles to perform.

Shaina is currently working on an album of folk ballads, which will be in a similar vein to her a cappella performances.

All of these projects are in the planning stages at the moment, but we will keep you posted when there is any further information.

Another note: I will still be checking the New Heaven official email periodically. If you have any inquiries related to the New Heaven back catalogue, or are interested in soundtrack music or upcoming New Heaven-related music projects, you can still email us at

Inquiries related to soundtrack music can also be sent to

Again, thank you all so much for listening and taking part in the musical landscape that Jeff and I created.
